Adulteration at next level: PFA seals godown making fake imported chocolates


The Punjab Food Authority enforcement teams on Friday closed down three food sites, imposed Rs116,000 cumulative fine on 12 food business operators and served warning notices for improvement on 210 food points in a daylong operation. The action was taken against them for not following the rules of the PFA Act.

The food safety teams under the supervision of food safety officers held an operation for tracing out unhygienic food points and units. Teams have raided on more than 300 food sites including milk shops, restaurants, hotels, meat shops and processing units.

According to details, a team of PFA raided a warehouse, located at Al-Madina Colony Ravi Road, and discovered fake packing of different products including Red Bull, Cadbury Dairy, KitKat and snickers. PFA has sealed the godown and also found the worst condition of sanitation. Apart from that, the administration has failed to produce medical certificates of its workers and PFA license. Jubilee Foods Production unit was also shut down by PFA for making a copy of different brands of food products and misbranding in Bhogiwal. As well as, the unit has failed to produce medical of its workers and not to meet the standards of PFA. In a separate raid, PFA team sealed Al-Fareed Nan Shop in Green Town due to use rancid oil and non-food grade colour, the richness of pests, open drains, poor storage and presence of stagnant water in kitchen area. While PFA’s watchdogs have discarded a huge quantity of unwholesome food during raids on hundreds of shops.
