Checking the standards: frozen fish and sea products sampling campaign to start on 30th January


The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) will commence its first phase of processed/ frozen fish and sea products sampling campaign on 30th January across Punjab for checking the quality. The samples to be collected under PFA annual sampling schedule for 2019.

In this connection, PFA has warned food business operators/companies about sampling schedule by serving notices to them. The authority also directed them to submit a complete list with name and designation of their representatives by 28th January.

PFA Director General Captain (R) Muhammad Usman has directed operation teams to complete their arrangements before 30th January. Food safety teams will collect samples for testing from open market in the presence of company’s representatives by following blind-sampling method. He said that collected samples to be sent laboratories for lab test which to be certified from ISOs and Pakistan Certified Councils. He further said that the result of the lab test report will be shared with the general public for public interest under the section 2b of PFA Act. DG further said that PFA will take strict action against responsible persons in the light of laboratory report. He said that PFA will give a time frame to remove the stock from market in case of failed samples of the respective company.
