The Punjab Food Authority’s enforcement teams on Tuesday visited 948 food stalls in 97 Ramazan Bazaars across Punjab as it continued its food inspection drive on the directives of Chief Minister Punjab, Usman Buzdar.
PFA Director General Captain (R) Muhammad Usman said that food safety teams have visited 44 Ramadan bazaars in Lahore Zone, 29 in Rawalpindi, 19 in Multan and five in Muzaffargarh Zone out of 97. Meanwhile, the authority has confiscated 236kg inferior fruits and 284kg rotten vegetables, later discarded. The teams also warned 163 food outlets, asking them to improve hygienic conditions.
Muhammad Usman said that food authority is checking Ramadan Bazaars on a regular basis in order to ensure the provision of safe and healthy food for the public. In this connection, PFA in collaboration with concerned administration working with full efforts. He has requested citizens to let know PFA in case of witness the presence of poor quality food at stalls. PFA is checking the open markets round the clock besides Ramadan Bazaars whereas authority has increased the number of inspection teams for its intended purpose.
