DG PFA Chairs Scientific Panel’s session to improve food safety standards


Punjab Food Authority Director General Captain (R) Muhammad Usman has presided the session of Scientific Panel to modernize food safety regulations, held at PFA Headquarter on Monday.
On that occasion, standards and regulations for meat, milk, eggs, yogurt and ice-cream were the main agenda of the session. The scientific panel reviewed the quality of antibacterial preservatives being used for frozen meat preserving. Water quality, which is being used while preparing foods were also reviewed by the panel.
Captain (R) Muhammad Usman said that water which is being used in the preparation of foods has a vital role and affect in the human body. Modern research over energy drinks was also discussed in the meeting as well as market research over it. Experts from various institutes have participated in the scientific panel session and exchanged important instructions and opinions, said Director General PFA. He has directed Technical Wing to legislate the important food safety laws and regulations with the opinion of panel members as soon as possible. The director general also said Punjab Food Authority is aiming to ensure food safety. He further said that we can ensure the provision of quality and healthy food for the public by ensuring the implementation of the food law.
