DG PFA pays surprise visit to Mianwali Ramadan bazaar


Food safety teams check 2,070 stalls in 104 Ramadan bazaars across Punjab.
Mianwali, May 15, 2019: The Punjab Food Authority’s enforcement teams on Wednesday
visited 2,070 food stalls in 104 Ramazan Bazaars across Punjab as it continued its food inspection drive on the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar. Meanwhile, PFA Director General Captain (R) Muhammad Usman also paid surprise visit to Mianwali Ramazan bazaar in order to inspect the food quality, hygiene issues, and food safety standards as well as to monitor the activities of field teams. He has visited the differentstalls during his visit. PFA has discarded several kilograms inferior quality fruits and vegetables while giving the
warning to improve the food standards. The teams have served warning notices for improvement to 78 food business operators during the inspection. In a daylong operation,
food safety teams have checked 43 Ramadan bazaars in Lahore, 37 in Rawalpindi, 19 in
Multan, and five in Muzaffargarh Zone. Muhammad Usman said that food authority is checking Ramadan Bazaars on a regular basis in order to ensure the provision of safe and healthy food for the public. In this connection, PFA in collaboration with concerned administration working with full efforts. He has requested citizens to let know PFA in case of witnessing the presence of poor quality food at stalls. PFA is checking the open markets round the clock besides Ramadan Bazaars whereas authority has increased the number of inspection teams for its intended purpose.
