DG PFA speaks over future parameters for food safety


Director General, Punjab Food Authority, Captain (R) Muhammad Usman has spoken in a seminar on “Food Safety – a Shared Responsibility”, discussed food safety laws and future actions over it. A seminar was held at Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Muhammad Usman has urged stakeholders to take collective steps for ensuring the provision of healthy and safe food on the doorsteps of consumer and betterment of the food industry. He discussed campaigns against adulteration and enlightened to how to get rid of milk from adulteration in Lahore Model City project.  Moreover, he said that it is necessary to be fully convinced for all stakeholders on food safety laws given by the authority. On that occasion, he sensitized that all private and government institutes would have to be more active for the implementation of food safety law. He said that PFA is legislating its regulations and food safety laws with help of a panel consisting of 30 PhD doctors. DG PFA said that with the help of precise laws and regulations, food safety parameters can be achieved. PFA has the support of Punjab Government for a zero-tolerance policy against adulteration.
