DG warns hatcheries selling rotten eggs and cold stores keeping rotten eggs, pledges strict action against violators


 Punjab Food Authority (PFA) Director General Captain (R) Muhammad Usman has strictly directed Cold Stores for not keeping rotten eggs in the stores, on Monday. This decision was taken after recovering of one million rotten eggs during the last ten days in different raids in Punjab.

PFA has also issued a warning notice to hatcheries to keep the record of rotten eggs and its production. DG PFA also directed hatcheries to discard spoiled eggs at dumping site for the protection of the environment. He also prohibited hatcheries for selling rotten eggs in the market, otherwise, strict action would be taken against them. DG said that the decision was taken upon being the information some food adulteration mafia is involved into the sale and purchase of rotten eggs which preserved putrid eggs in cold store and supply to bakeries and egg powder manufactures.

PFA is vigilantly checking the supply of eggs which are selling to domestic consumers. He informed that it is compulsory for egg suppliers to mention the expiry date on eggs and to maintain its cleanliness. He has requested citizens to inform PFA in case of witness the sale of eggs without expiry dates in the market.
