Food Colours sampling campaign to start on 28th February


Director General Punjab Food Authority Captain (r) Muhammad Usman has directed operation teams to collect the samples of food colours for laboratory test. In this connection, PFA has informed all concerned companies/ food business operators (FBOs) about sampling date through notice and directed them to contact with PFA by February 25.
Muhammad Usman said that the food safety teams of PFA will collect samples for laboratory test from the open market on dated 28th February. He said that all samples will be collected in the presence of company’s representatives by following blind-sampling method. Meanwhile, the authority will send collected samples two to three laboratories for lab test which to be certified from ISOs and Pakistan Certified Councils.
DG further said that this drive to be a part of the periodic schedule for sampling of products. He said that the use of non-food grade colour is strictly prohibited in food because of causes of diseases for consumers. The provincial food regulatory body will take action against responsible in the light of the laboratory report. He said that the purpose of this drive is to thoroughly examine the quality of ingredients which are being used in the products. PFA is checking food products and industry as per periodic schedule for testing of edibles for the current year, he added.
