Gutka Free Punjab vision: PFA discards 260,000 packs of gutka worth Rs5m


As many as 260,000 packets of gutka worth of rupees five million was set ablaze to put in furnace of Punjab Agriculture & Meat Company (PAMCO) under the supervision of PFA Director General Captain (R) Muhammad Usman, on Saturday.

On the occasion, Captain (R) Muhammad Usman said that a huge quantity of discarded gutka of national and international brands was seized during different raids throughout the province. He said that gutka was discarded as per eco-friendly policy in order to prevent the environmental pollution which is serious threat to this nation. A crackdown of the Punjab Food Authority is continuing against all gutka suppliers and sellers across Punjab, he mentioned.

DG further said that we are doing working against gutka under zero tolerance policy in Punjab. Usman further said that Gutka is silent killer and it is injurious to health for it users and which causes mouth cancer and other diseases. Hazardous Guttka sale is strictly banned under the ongoing campaign against it titled “Guttka Free Punjab Mission” in across the province, he added.
