Minister Food and DG Punjab Food Authority Execution of pasteurization policy


Finalizing of pasteurization policy and an imposition of ban the sale of loose milk in Punjab are entered in the final stage and announcement would be made anytime soon. This was informed by the Punjab Food Authority on Thursday. In this connection, a meeting was held between Minister for Food Samiullah Chaudhry and PFA Director General Captain (R) Muhammad Usman. In the first phase, the pasteurization law will be implemented after making Lahore as a Model City by PFA. The implementation of the law would helpful for authorities to meet international standards and to curb the sale of adulterated milk.
Minister Food Samiullah Chaudhry said that milk is a staple food whereas the use of tainted milk become a cause of several diseases. He said that we are elucidating the status of the policy to make pasteurization law beneficial for small farmers as well as making a comprehensive plan to ensure the provision of pure milk and economical packing. Director General, Punjab Food Authority, Muhammad Usman said that PFA is bringing integrated policies for restricting food business operators to ensure the availability of healthy and safe food in the market for the public. He also said that we are doing legislation to adulteration and forgery eradication from Punjab.
