The Punjab Food Authority in collaboration with Mayo Hospital organized an awareness camp on the role of diet in the prevention and treatment of hepatitis, on Wednesday.
A 25-member team comprised of expert nutritionists and doctors guided more than 500 people about the dietary guidelines after their complete medical examination and nutrition counselling. PFA Director General Captain (R) Muhammad Usman, Registrar King Edward Medical College, CEO and AMS of the Mayo Hospital visited the camp.
Meanwhile, the team has conducted medical tests of visitors regarding weight, height and BMI free of cost. They also distributed juices of different fruits, booklets and charts concerning diet plan/ information among people.
CEO Mayo Hospital said that to arrange awareness camps by PFA, sensitizing people about the selection of healthy and nutritious food. Similarly, Registrar King Edward Medical College said that safe and healthy food can play a vital role in the prevention and treatment of Hepatitis and any other disease. AMS Mayo Hospital has appreciated the activities of Punjab Food Authority for organizing such kind of awareness camps.
On that occasion, PFA Director General Captain (R) Muhammad Usman said that there is a great need for the generation to have knowledge about the selection of good food for oral as well as physical health for building a healthy society. He said that we can control the diseases to spread awareness among people about the use of the best diet. PFA is taking all necessary steps for the betterment of the society and food industry, he added.
