PFA checks 76 Ramadan bazaars across Punjab


The Punjab Food Authority on Saturday visited 1,621 food stalls in 76 Ramadan bazaars across Punjab as it continued its food inspection drive on the directives of Chief Minister Punjab, Usman Buzdar.
PFA Director General Captain (R) Muhammad Usman said that food safety teams have visited 29 Ramadan bazaars in Lahore Zone, 28 in Rawalpindi, 15 in Multan and four bazaars in Muzaffargarh Zone. Meanwhile, the authority has confiscated 264kg inferior fruits and 247kg rotten vegetables, later discarded. The teams also served warning notices for improvement to 34 food points and punished a shopkeeper with heavy fine ticket.
Muhammad Usman said that food authority is checking Ramadan Bazaars on a regular basis in order to ensure the provision of safe and healthy food for the public. In this connection, PFA in collaboration with concerned administration working with full efforts. He has requested citizens to let know PFA in case of witnessing the presence of poor quality food at stalls. PFA is checking the open markets round the clock besides Ramadan Bazaars whereas authority has increased the number of inspection teams for its intended purpose.
