PFA directs safety teams to continue operations 24/7 during Ramadan


Director General, Punjab Food Authority, Captain (R) Muhammad Usman has directed food safety teams to be more active and continuous inspections of fruits, vegetables, pulses and other essential commodities in the Ramadan Bazaars.

He also directed to depute food safety teams round the clock in markets to ensure the provision of healthy and safe food for mass. These directions were issued by PFA Director General Captain (R) Muhammad Usman while presiding over a meeting at his office on Wednesday. The heads of Operation and Vigilance wing of the PFA have participated in the meeting.

Meanwhile, he said that open markets would be checked properly as well as Ramadan Bazaar.  He ordered vigilance teams to utilize maximum energy and every possible source to dig out adulteration mafia. He also directed to constitute special teams to monitor the suspicious activities of shopkeepers and food business operators in Sehri and Iftar timings.

Captain (R) Muhammad Usman PFA would utilize every possible available source to eliminate adulteration mafia. Punjab Food Authority’s operations and vigilance teams would be fully active to ensure the provision of standard and healthy food as per the vision of Punjab Government. Captain (R) Muhammad Usman exclaimed that public must support Punjab Food Authority to eliminate these counterfeits. He has appealed the public to report any suspicious activities related to food adulteration and unhygienic food points on PFA Facebook Page and Toll-Free number 1223, pointing out that all the information received will be kept strictly confidential to protect the privacy of informers. He also announced to give cash prizes among informers.
