PFA disposes of 4,915 litres adulterated milk in Punjab


The dairy safety team of Punjab Food Authority (PFA) disposed of as many as 4,915 litres tainted milk during held crackdown against adulterated milk across Punjab here on Sunday. The enforcement teams have placed screening pickets at the entry and exit points of each district at early morning.

The crackdown was carried out on the special directions of PFA Director General Captain (R) Muhammad Usman. He informed that PFA checked 188,961 litres milk that was loaded on 1,544 milk vehicles. The authority inspected 769 vehicles in Lahore Zone, 414 vehicles in Rawalpindi, 273 vehicles in Multan and 88 vehicles in Muzaffargarh out of 1,544.

Muhammad Usman said that the authority disposed of milk over found contamination of harmful chemicals, powder, urea and polluted water in it. Thousands of litres adulterated milk being carried on dozens of vehicles in cities from different dairy farmhouses and factories, located at far-flung areas. He said that the use of tainted milk causes of health diseases among children and elders. He further said that PFA is doing working day and night and using all available resources to the provision of safe and quality food in Punjab.

DG added that pasteurizing is only solution to eliminate the sale of loose milk and its adulteration. PFA is doing crackdown against milk adulteration mafia at every level for controlling the wicked practice of milk adulteration. He directed food safety teams to accelerate the crackdown against adulterators for bringing down the immoral practice of milk adulteration in Punjab.
