PFA disposes of 850 litre adulterated milk


The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has carried out a grand operation against adulterators involved in the wicked practice of milk adulteration here on Sunday. The dairy safety teams (DSTs) have disposed of 850 litres tainted milk while taking action in the area of Taxali, Lahore.

A total of 5,250 litre milk was inspected that available on 15 milk shops. PFA Director General Irfan Memon said that DSTs have used lactoscan milk analyser machine to get the quick results of milk samples which conducted on the spot.

Hajveri, Ali Hajveri, Imtiaz, Faisal, Faryad, Jeda Lassi Butter, Rashid and Ehsan Milk shops were found involved in the sale of adulterated milk. He said that all tainted milk was wasted on the spot over found a low level of lactometer reading and contaminates such as powder, chemicals and polluted water in the milk. Further, PFA also issued warning notices for improvement to eight milk shops.

He said that adulteration is a heinous crime and adulterators would be dealt with an iron hand. He further said that the use of adulterated milk causes several diseases like stomach problems. In the month of holy Ramadan, all those food business operators who trade in food businesses should consider their work/profession as worship. He added that the provincial food regulatory body is checking milk shops and vehicles on a daily basis in this crucial time.
