PFA foils attempt to supply over 5,000 litres adulterated milk, seals milk shop


The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has seized as many as 5,000 liters tainted milk by confiscating a milk tanker and sealing a shop during conducted different raids in the provincial metropolis here on Wednesday.

Acting on the tipoff, dairy safety team has caught a milk carrier vehicle (TUB 579) and recovered thousands of liters chemically contaminated milk during the inspection. PFA Director General Captain (R) Muhammad Usman said that milk was being supplied to the Liaqat Milk Shop located at Outfall Road, however, PFA has foiled an attempt to supply it by taking timely action against milk supplier at the entrance of Lahore at Shahdara. The provincial food regulatory body also took action against the shopkeeper and seized 1,500 litres adulterated milk in a separate raid. The action was taken against the milk shop upon the initial information of the driver.

Muhammad Usman said that PFA has been recovered more than 100,000 adulterated milk in a week. Meanwhile, three members of PFA were seriously injured in a firing incident during a conducted raid against milk adulterators in Sahiwal. Punjab Food Authority is doing work as ‘Jihad’ to ensure the provision of adulteration-free food throughout the province, he added.
