PFA foils attempt to supply over 8,100 litres hazardous oil


Director General Punjab Food Authority Captain (R) Muhammad Usman led the operation and caught a used oil carrier truck with its crew by placing picket in the metropolis here on Thursday.

Acting on the tipoff, PFA watchdog team has recovered 8,100 liters used hazardous oil which was being carried on a truck (LOD 6670) in 45 drums. According to the details, a week earlier PFA team had caught a group of used oil seller and inquired them further information about other groups.

DG PFA said that PFA has foiled an attempt to supply hazardous oil in Gujrat, while it was also to be supplied to different restaurants. He said that it has been ordered for further investigation of the supply chain and unveil the faces of this mafia. He also said that used oil extracted from animal filths is most dangerous for human health as it causes several fatal diseases. Recovered hazardous used oil would be handed over to bio-diesel Company.

According to the PFA laws and regulations, this kind of oil can only be used for the preparation of bio-diesel. Captain retired Muhammad Usman added that PFA is completely super active to combat the enemies of public health. Adulteration and counterfeiters mafia deserve heavy punishments and penalties, he added.
