PFA holds awareness camp on “Role of Diet in Treating Anaemia” at LGH


A one day public awareness camp was organized on the Role of Diet in Treating Anaemia by the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) in collaboration with Lahore General Hospital (LGH) at outdoor patients department of the hospital on Wednesday.
The chief guest of the occasion was the PFA Director General Captain (R) Muhammad Usman and LGH Medical Superintendent Dr. Mahmood Salahuddin. They have reviewed the arrangements while visiting the campsite. They have also asked people about the facilities which were being provided to the public at camp.
A 10-member team of PFA nutritionist, AMS Dr. Rana Shafiq, OPD Incharge Dr. Samina Tofique, Dr. Sonia Shafique and officials of both organizations were present on the occasion. The team of nutritionists distributed nutrition-based pamphlets and brochures among people made specifically for anemia’s patients looking to provide the best nutrition choices for them. They have sensitized more than 700 visitors including pregnant women, patients and their attendants along with general public.
PFA Director General Captain (R) Muhammad Usman said that diseases such as anaemia are increasing among children and pregnant women due to lack of nutrition awareness. He said that we can overcome the anaemia issues through consumed best food in daily life because anaemia is a haematological disease that affects growth in children. He informed that our nutritionists’ aware hundreds of people about the dietary guidelines after their medical examination and complete nutrition counselling. PFA is taking action against adulteration mafia in order to ensure the provision of safe food for the public by rooting out the menace of adulteration from Punjab.
Speaking on the occasion, MS Lahore General Hospital Dr. Mahmood Salahuddin said that PFA is doing a great job for the safety of people by promoting the use of better healthy food.
