PFA holds awareness camp on “Role of Nutrition in the Treatment and Prevention of Tuberculosis” at the Gulab Devi Hospital


The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has held an awareness camp on “Role of Nutrition in the Treatment and Prevention of Tuberculosis” at the Gulab Devi Hospital here on Thursday.
On the occasion, PFA has distributed a complete list of healthy food that can help during the treatment of Tuberculosis’ patients. The authority also distributed nutrition-based pamphlets and brochures made specifically for TB’s patients looking to provide the best nutrition choices for them.
Meanwhile, Minister for Food Samiullah Chaudhry, PFA Director General Captain (R) Muhammad Usman, Gulab Devi Hospital Medical Superintendent (MS) Dr. Hamid Hassan and Deputy Medical Superintendent Dr. Aqeel ur Rahman have visited the camp. A team of PFA nutritionists and doctors were also present at camp who aware over 600 people about the dietary guidelines after their medical examination and complete nutrition counselling.
Speaking on the occasion, Food Minister Samiullah Chaudhry said that number of camps would increase for better guidance of the public. He said that we can keep safe and sound from infectious diseases like TB through create awareness among people about the use of better food.
DG Muhammad Usman said that prevention is better than cure so citizens should adopt a healthy diet plan to keep safe himself from different diseases. The purpose of today’s camp was to guide visitors concerning their diet plan and diseases. He said that PFA is giving free consultancy to visitors about TB prevention and healthy diet at camps. He further said that it’s compulsory for TB patients to use safe and healthy food along with medicine.
MS Dr. Hamid Hassan has appreciated PFA for taking the necessary steps to ensure the provision of safe food along with for promoting the use of better healthy food among people.
