PFA issues warning to 27 dairy production units in Punjab


The dairy safety teams of Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Wednesday fined two food business operators and served warning notices for improvement to 27 units while checking the big dairy production units across Punjab.

PFA Director General Captain (R) Muhammad Usman said that PFA watchdog teams have inspected 30 production units including 20 in Lahore Zone, five in Rawalpindi, three in Muzaffargarh and two in Multan Zone. He said that the purpose of the inspection was ensuring the provision of pure and nutritious milk for people as per the vision of Prime Minister and CM Punjab.

During the inspection, PFA had collected 13 samples of dairy products and sent to accredited laboratories for further analysis. He said that PFA would share the results of the laboratory report for public interest after completing the sampling campaign. He added that PFA would not be allowed any failed dairy units to sell their products in the market and removed its stock from the market as per the standard operating procedures. Muhammad Usman said that the authority is checking all food items/ products according to annual sampling schedule for 2019. The Punjab Food Authority is determined to make adulterated-free food province as per the vision of Punjab Government.
