PFA rolls up sleeves to control adulterated milk


The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has rolled up its sleeves against ice factories in order to curb the sale of adulterated milk in Punjab. The authority has made compulsory for food business operators to get a separate license for running milk chiller unit and ice factory business, otherwise, strict action would be taken against violators.

PFA Director General Captain (R) Muhammad Usman said that ice factories could not store milk in ice blocks in the name of ice factory business. He said that it would be compulsory to install chillers for storing milk. PFA to be served emergency prohibition order in case of store milk in an ice factory, he said and added that if the milk found is adulterated, premises to be sealed. He said that PFA is amending the Punjab Food Authority’s Law to ensure the provision of healthy and safe food at the door of citizens. PFA is vigilantly monitoring the suspicious activity of milk sellers/ milkman. Muhammad Usman said that PFA is utilizing all available resources to implement the Pasteurizing Law.
