The Punjab Food Authority has sealed 3 honey blending factories over preparing adulterated honey.1130kg of fake honey, 1500kg syrup and 450kg of glucose were discarded.
Under the supervision of PFA Director General Rafaqat Ali Niswana, food safety teams carried out operation against fake honey units.
DG Punjab Food Authority said, Habib honey unit, Ahmed honey Unit and Etebar Khan Honey unit were sealed in Badami Bagh Lahore. Sealed honey factories were producing fake honey by adding sugar, glucose and loose unhealthy colors.
He further said that poor storage and pitiable arrangements of cleanliness was witnessed by the team during raid. Hazardous honey was being supplied with attractive packaging in the market.The use of adulterated honey causes diseases including diabetes
DG Punjab Food Authority added that as per the vision of Chief Minister Punjab, eradication of counterfeiting and adulteration mafia is the first priority. People are requested to keep an eye on their surroundings and report if any adulteration is found.
