PFA seals factory for producing fabricated milk


The Punjab Food Authority on Sunday sealed a milk collection centre on account of adulteration while carrying out a crackdown against adulterated milk in the provincial metropolis upon the directions of its Director General Irfan Memon.

He said that the purpose of the inspection was ensuring the supply of pure milk at every nook and corner of Punjab as per the vision of Prime Minister of Pakistan and Punjab Government. He said that Amjad Milk Collection Center located at Qadri Chowk Arif Wala, producing fake milk by using the skimmed milk, polluted water, hazardous chemicals and powder.

PFA’s dairy team has taken milk samples for a screening test on the spot and took action against milk sellers over found results not up to the mark. He said that authority has disposed of 1,500 litres adulterated milk. The raiding team also witnessed the worst condition of hygiene and non-compliance of instructions. Apart from that, workers of the collection centre did not have medical certificates.

The director-general said that the use of tainted milk is posing a threat to the users’ health. Dairy safety teams are regularly inspecting the supply across the province while the provision of healthy and pure milk is the utmost priority of the PFA, he added.
