Following the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar, Punjab Food Authority (PFA) continued its crackdown against adulterators across Punjab. On Friday, PFA’s watchdogs unearthed a fake cola drink manufacturing factory in Band Road area and foiled an attempt to supply thousands of litres spurious beverages in the market by taking action against adulterators.
The raid was led by the PFA Director General Captain (R) Muhammad Usman. He said that PFA recovered as many as 31,340 spurious carbonated drinks, 50,000 fake labels of different brands and empty bottles. As well as, three gas cylinders, two filling machines, a huge quantity of chemicals and raw material during the raid. He said that the Punjab Food Authority also registered a case against the owner of the factory on adulteration and forgery charges. He said that fake soft drinks were being made to supply shopkeepers in the metropolitan and its surrounding areas before Eid.
He said that PFA is taking action against fake beverages making factories according to an action plan. He informed that PFA has been discarded approximately one million fake bottles during the current month. PFA will make Punjab’s land narrow for adulteration mafia, he said and added that authority could not be compromised on the quality of food. Punjab Food Authority will not spare anyone who breaches the laws, he added.
