PFA seals ketchup factory, three eateries over non-compliance SOPs


In the supervision of Punjab Food Authority (PFA) Director General Rafaqat Ali Naswana, the food safety teams have carried out general inspections over milksops and other counterfeit food businesses on Tuesday.

The Authority has sealed a ketchup production unit over the preparation of counterfeit ketchup without tomatoes and usage of starch, artificial flavours and lose colours situated in Chungi Amar Sindhu. Extremely poor sanitation and counterfeit ketchup found in banned blue drums.

On the other hands, PFA has sealed two milk shops respectively Ghausia Milk Shop in Gulberg, Bilal Milk Shop in Fareed Colony over the failure of quality tests on the spot.

Meanwhile, one Ice-cream unit was also sealed over the existence of rodents, stinky atmosphere and poor arrangements of cleanliness.

Director General Punjab Food Authority Rafaqat Ali Naswana said that milk shops and ice-ream unit named Manolo Gelato was sealed over incomplete labelling, unavailability of medical certificates of food workers.

He further said that our top priority is to ensure the provision of healthy and safe food to general public. Strict action will be taken against food business operators who trade with unwholesome food.
