PFA seals production unit for producing impure food


The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has registered a case against Munir Dairy unit on account of forgery, fraud and adulteration in food while carrying out an operation against it in Kahna Nau area here on Monday. The enforcement teams have confiscated 1,250kg substandard ghee, 1,000kg fake butter, 20 non-food grade drums and machinery.
The operation as led by PFA Director General Captain (R) Muhammad Usman. He has informed that raid was conducted against the factory on the tip-off of PFA’s vigilance cell after a one-week sting operation. He said that authority has caught red-handed producing fake butter by adding harmful chemicals and banaspati ghee in it. The team also found unavailability of expired date and label on the packaging. He said that the authority has unearthed a production unit on the tip-off of PFA’s vigilance cell after reiki. Food authority would not allow food business operators to play citizens’ live for minting money and to deal violators and adulterators with an iron hand.  He told that PFA had discarded 10,000 kilograms substandard desi ghee worth more than Rs10 million during conducted a raid in Sahiwal on Saturday.
