PFA shuts down factory making fake soft drinks in Lahore


The Punjab Food  Authority (PFA) has  unearthed a fake carbonated drink  manufacturing factory and  foiled an attempt to supply thousands of litres superiors drink by taking action it in the area of Wagha Border on Friday. The raid conducted under the supervision of PFA Director General retired CaptainMuhammad Usman. The raiding team has  confiscated 8,000 litres fake  prepared drinks, 9,000 litres empty bottles, raw material and false labels. Meanwhile, PFA has closed down the factory by rooting out the nine gas cylinders, three filling station, chemicals and other machinery.
Muhammad Usman  said that Punjab Food Authority has registered an FIR along with handed accused over to police after apprehended during the raid. He said that fake carbonated drinks of  popular brands were  making by using artificial  flavours, hazardous  chemicals,  loose colours  and tap water. He further said that the use of fake bottles causes of cancer and ulcer among consumers owing to prepare without any formula. He said that PFA has traced factory after scouting supply chain. He said that PFA has been discarded more than one million spurious cola drinks in two months. PFA is fully determined to eliminate the businesses of food adulterators from Punjab, he added.
