PFA teams inspected 502 breakfast points, fined 154 and sealed 2 for selling unhygienic food


 The Punjab Food Authority watchdogs on Monday closed down 2 breakfast points, imposed heavy fines on 154 food business operators and served warning notices to 502 breakfast points. Action was taken for not following the rules of PFA Act.

The food safety teams under the supervision of food safety officers held an operation against breakfast points across the Punjab Province. DG PFA Captain (R) Muhammad Usman said, “People usually have breakfast out on holidays as a common convention and for the purpose of outing.”

According to the details, teams of PFA sealed two breakfast points for using smelly rancid oil, preparing food in unhygienic spices, greasy floor production area, and abundance of insects and unavailability of medical certificates of food workers.

146 breakfast points were checked during special operations, in Lahore. Likewise, PFA teams checked 185 in Rawalpindi, 118 in Multan and 53 in Gujranwala. PFA teams carry out special operations on holidays as well, to weed out food perpetrators, DG PFA added.
