PFA to adopt digital mapping system of daily checking FBOs for operation wing


Punjab Food Authority Director General Irfan Memon has directed officials to prepare a precise plan on digital mapping to evaluate the performance of operation teams while reviewing the performance of operation wing at PFA Headquarters on Monday.

He has been briefed about the performance of the operation team by Additional Director General (Operations) Rafia Haider. On that occasion, DG PFA said that duty routes and plans would be made on the basis of a latest and modern digitalized system for operation teams. Meanwhile, this digitalized system would help to monitor the activities of filed teams and to evaluate their performance for getting fruitful results in future.

According to the details, 2,209 food points had been inspected so far since the month of November. On the other hand, 33 food points sealed over poor arrangements of hygiene whereas stopped the production of 50 food businesses by serving emergency prohibition orders.

Furthermore, four police cases had been filed on the account of extensive adulteration in food and two accused handed over to police after taking into custody from the spot by PFA. The provincial food regulatory body also imposed hefty fines on 393 food points in the last two months. Similarly, PFA teams had collected 499 food samples for further laboratory analysis. On the other hand, 746 food licenses were applied for unregistered food points during visited their premises. The authority also served warning notices for improvement to 725 food points in a couple of months.
