The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has lodged an FIR against the owner of the factory in the nearest police station in Kasur Pura Ravi Road due to producing fake beverages and refilled in the bottles of renowned brands.
While, provincial food regulatory body has sealed the site immediately and confiscated 15,000 litres substandard quality of carbonated drinks and 4,000 cans of expired energy drinks during conducted a raid under the supervision of Director General Captain (R) Muhammad Usman in the darkness of the night.
Captain (R) Muhammad Usman said that PFA has foiled an attempt to supply of thousands of litres fake beverages in the market after unearthing a factory who running their unlawful business of production on the cover of Whole Sale Distributor in the area of Kasur Pura Ravi Road in Shahdrah. He informed that fake drinks not only was being filled in the bottles of other brands but also labeling stickers of renewed beverage companies on bottles.
He revealed that a team of PFA sized 10,000 bottles of various brands and 4,000 cans of energy drinks from the site. He further said that the dates of expiry cans were also being changed with new expiry dates which is a heinous crime. PFA is collecting the bottle supply records and would be started an investigation of this matter to withdraw the material from the market where it had supplied, Usman mentioned.
In addition, the authority registered a case against the wholesale distributor. Such products are health-fatal for human and causes cancer and stomach alser, DG said and directed operations and vigilance wings to accelerate their action against adulterators in Punjab.
