A high-level delegation from Thailand has visited the Punjab Food Authority head office here on Wednesday.The purpose of the visit to discuss business opportunities in the food industry.
Director General Punjab Food Authority has briefed the delegation about the reforms in food industry as well as new business opportunities created in it. The authority also briefed the meeting about the positive effects of PFA’s work on the health of the public. Officials also gave a briefing about regulations, administrative affairs, management structure and progress of PFA.
DG PFA said that Punjab Food Authority has made the process of having food license and registration easier for the food industry. The authority has facilitated food businesses operators with modern technology to apply for food license through E-Licencing system while sitting at home. On the other hand, Captain retired Muhammad Usman added that the food industry has got more educated food operators with the help of Punjab food Authority training school. PFA advisory service is providing awareness regarding Food Authority laws free of cost.
A layman is having safe and healthy food whereas small and big food operators are being facilitated as well as new opportunities. Moreover, the packaging industry also have more business opportunities due to packaging law. Due to the re-used oil law, the eco- friendly industry has grown as well as protection from cancer. Food colour industry got more business opportunities after the elimination of non-food graded colours as they effect on human health and cause deadly diseases.
Similarly, with pasteurization law, farmers would have a better price of their own milk production. Pasteurization plants and transport for delivering pasteurized milk would increase business opportunities. Dairy and Livestock industry would grow more due to the demand of pure milk. Lastly, DG PFA added that PFA along with reforming the food business it also encourage food operators for good work.
