The Punjab Food Authority continued its grand operation against adulterators to make Punjab adulteration free


PFA unearths unit producing fake beverages, confiscates 5,000 litres fizzy drinks and
15,000 litres raw material.

Lahore, April 23, 2019: The Punjab Food Authority continued its grand operation against
adulterators to make Punjab adulteration free before the start of the holy month of Ramadan.

On Tuesday, the authority conducted a raid on a cola drinks factory and sealed it on account
of forgery while taking action against it in Gulshan Town near Thokar Niaz Baig. A team
caught red-handed producing fake beverages with the label of renowned carbonated drink
companies. The raiding team also confiscated 5,000 litres fizzy drinks of different brands,
15,000 litres raw material, 10,000 empty bottles, five gas cylinder, two filling machines and
fake labelling.

Muhammad Usman said that PFA has foiled an attempt to supply thousands of litres fake
beverages in the market after unearthing a factory who was running their unlawful business.
He said that fake drinks not only was being filled in the bottles of other brands but also
labelling stickers of renewed beverage companies on bottles. He informed that authority has
lodged an FIR against the owner of the fake beverage factory for violating the rules of the
PFA Act. He said that formulas of fake carbonated drinks become causes of cancer and
stomach ulcer among people. PFA is fully determined to eliminate the businesses of food
adulterators from Punjab.

The director general said that PFA had kicked off a grand operation in Punjab before
Ramadan, upon the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar. In this
connection, food authority has increased the number of inspection teams to curb the menace
